Best 5 Valentine’s Day Activities for Elementary Chinese Immersion Classrooms

Happy Valentine’s Day and Friendship Day! Here are some activities we created for your students to celebrate this holiday and have fun learning Chinese.

1. Valentine’s Day Write the Room

Write-the-room is a wonderful activity for young kids to learn vocabulary. Your Chinese learners can get up, walk around the classroom, and look for these Valentine’s Day symbols and Chinese words.

Make it a fun scavenger hunt to get your students excited about looking for these words!

2. Valentine’s Day Numbers 1-10 Counting Book

This is the perfect Valentine’s Day little booklet for your students from Preschool to first grade.

Your students will learn Chinese words of Valentine’s Day, get exposure to different measure words in Chinese, practice counting from 1 to 10, and connect counting to cardinality.

3. Writing Kindness Letters and Notes

Let’s teach students how to express love and spread joy by writing kindness notes in Chinese!

You Chinese learners can write a kindness note to their teachers, friends, parents, or anyone in the community. Then, they can put their note in an envelope and give it to that person.

4. Valentine’s Day Games and Crafts

Make the Valentine’s Day celebration fun with hands-on activities, games, and crafts!

Students will become detectives and put the puzzles together to decode the secret message in Chinese. They will also learn how to make a fortune teller and have fun making their little love bear puppet!

5. Kindness and Friendship Jar

Valentine’s Day is about love and friendship!

This kindness jar is a super cute activity for your students to learn what a compliment is, and share love by giving compliments to each other by leaving a little heart to make their day.
